Exercising at Tiong Bahru

In Singapore, many of its citizens, both locals and foreigners, are always seen to exercise. You can see them walking or running by the sidewalk, the gyms provided, or even the parks. Other than running, many find that yoga, dance, meditation, or lifting weights is their best way of exercising. In Tiong Bahru, there are surprisingly many locations where you can go exercise, either outdoor or indoor. Here are 6 amazing places you can go and do your workouts in Tiong Bahru!

1. Anytime Fitness

Anytime Fitness is one of the most popular public gyms in the world. The benefits of going there are that you can come there anytime you want, you can get access to all completed types of equipment, you can book for classes (such as pilates, yoga, strength training, etc). Anytime Fitness has appliances such as treadmills, weights, barbells, rowing machines, dumbbells, medicine balls, and many more! Not only you can use all of the appliances, but you also have access to a locker where you can put away your belongings, and also that you get access to the shower after your workout!

2. F45 Training Tiong Bahru

If group workouts are your favorite way to exercise, then F45 should be the place for you! The letter ‘F’ stands for functional training as they do class workouts of a mix of HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) training and circuit-style workout. The ‘45’ means that the workout takes up to 45 minutes to get you to sweat, get the heart rate pumping as well as have fun! Every day has different courses provided. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, it offers a cardio workout, every Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday offers resistance training, while on Saturday does a hybrid workout of both cardio and resistance workouts. Every program is only 45 minutes long, and even though it will be tiring at the end, it will get your daily workouts in while also having fun!

3. Tiong Bahru Park

Exercising in the park is truly relaxing and very peaceful and luckily Singapore has many parks in many areas. The park is 3.3 hectares (33000 square meters) of area. You can bring your friends and/or family to come along, or if being alone is your method of exercising, you can listen to your music whilst exercising as it is a quiet area. Before exercising, there are locations where you can warm up at the various fitness corners and exercise stations that are located around the park. After your run or exercise at the park, there is a foot reflexology footpath where you can walk on for a relaxing massage to loosen up your feet muscles. There are also benches and shades where you can sit to relax and get fresh air. The best time to get a fresh breeze is usually in the morning or the afternoon, depending on the weather!

PushPullGive (PPG) offers many different fitness programs. It has HIIT programs, yoga, pilates, calisthenics (such as jumping jacks, chin-ups, planks) and many more. It is for everybody in every skill level and here, you will be able to work on your stamina, strength, endurance, and flexibility. In PPG, you have the choice of exercising in group classes or personal training, and the exercises are in the area of body weight and functional training. If yoga is your favorite way of exercising, then you should definitely come to Freedom Yoga! Here, you can have 7 different classes: basic, power, freedom flow, time out, yoga therapeutics, power vinyasa, and prenatal yoga. As from the name, basic is for anyone who is looking to learn the basic foundations of yoga. Freedom flow allows you to connect your body and mind together in a harmonious movement. Power is a level-up of basic and is designed to gain strength, stamina, and flexibility. While power vinyasa is the level-up of freedom flow and the pace of the class is much faster and it helps you to energize and strengthen your mind and body. Time out class allows you to calm your body down after a hectic day of work and it focuses on stretching to loosen up your muscles. Yoga therapeutics offers to improve your health and well-being, as each month it focuses on different body functions or topics (such as back/neck pain, improving posture, stress management, etc).
